More so than other career paths, the journey through academia is full of twists, turns, and unknowns. For women in the engineering academy, there are barriers that make the journey unique. Join Dr. Linda Katehi to discuss her storied career in academia, hear lessons learned from her experiences, and discuss strategies and tools to advance in leadership roles within academia.

Linda Katehi, PhD is the O’Donnell Foundation TEES Distinguished Professor of Electronics at Texas A&M, College Station. Professor Katehi served as the sixth chancellor of the University of California, Davis, from August 2009 to August 2016. As chief executive officer, she oversaw all aspects of the university’s teaching, research and public service mission. In August 2016, Professor Katehi retired from her administrative service and became Chancellor Emerita and a Distinguished Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC Davis. In October 2015, she was awarded the National Academy of Engineering Simon Ramo Founders Award for her visionary leadership in engineering research. Katehi was the first woman to be honored with this award.
